Garthmyl Hall - Anwen & Rhys

"A grade-two listed Georgian Country House that simply oozes character and charm". (https://www.garthmylhall.co.uk/)

"Oozes character and charm"? This place is unreal. This photograph is just the front of the building.

Surrounding the main hall are Silver Birch woods, Giant Cedar tree's, manicured gardens complete with a water feature and quaint out houses. All before you arrive at the rustic green door hiding the stunning 'walled gardens' (below) - such a pleasant surprise. Inside is just as much of a surprise - complete with an underground bar. This might be my dream home!

On to the main subjects - the incredible bride and groom, Anwen & Rhys, and their special day. I met Rhys several years ago through mutual friends on a snow boarding trip in the french Alps. Meeting Rhys was one of the major highlights of the trip, which was tainted by my efforts of trying to attempt more than my capabilities allowed on the piste. Trying to imitate these seasoned 'boarders', I returned with several broken ribs.

It was a great surprise to hear from Rhys and his wife to be, a year ago to ask of my availability. It was my honour to be a part of their plans.

On the morning of the wedding, Anwen and the Bridal Party prepared in the Bridal Suite, whilst Rhys and guests congregated downstairs in the many welcome rooms and main hallway.

Guests continued to arrive. Drinks began to flow. Final preparations were put into place in time for the ceremony.

From laughter to deep breaths - the Grooms nerves began to show. Everyone was seated awaiting the Brides arrival.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Evans. Now the fun can begin. After the confetti shot we could explore the incredible grounds.

The Walled Garden is a dream location for bride and groom shots. Exposed brickwork, rustic doorways and gates perfectly contrast the elegance and class of the bride and grooms attire as well as the vibrant gardens.

The formal shots followed at the front of the hall. I discuss the formal shots at the pre-wedding consultation when we discover how much time will be available. On this occasion we had a good 30 minutes, however the wind speed increased creating some swirly gusts. So, although the time frame sounds reasonable for the group shots, wind or rain are the last of weather conditions that a bridal party wants be standing in. We nailed it!

Garthmyl Hall looks just as stunning in the evening with its ambient lighting. It was a lovely opportunity, now that the days are shorter, for some lovely outdoor photographs.

When a location has so many amazing backdrops and limited time to capture the moments it's an exciting challenge. I feel happy that we utilised the grounds as best and efficiently as we could. Before my departure there was the important matter of the First Dance and the party.

Every second of the day was beautiful. A new venue to photograph, with so much beauty within the grounds to capture. From day one, Anwen & Rhys were such a joy to work with. It's so nice to be reacquainted and I hope we can keep in touch and see each others lives develop.

Congratulations and Thank you so much.
