Bryn Derwen Country House - Shannon & Josh

Originally scheduled for May 2021, Shannon & Josh were my final couple who had to reschedule their wedding, due to the pandemic. This was worth the wait - they made a smart decision to hire a huge country house for all of their guests to celebrate and hire in a bar and caterers. Shannon & Josh made the decision to marry at Caernarfon registry office followed by Bryn Derwen Country House in Bethesda. What a day it was!

Shannon's bridal preparation took place at Bryn Derwen, with views of nearby Eryri (Snowdonia National park) beyond the autumnal tones. Shannon together with her Mum and Bridesmaid were having their hair styled and make-up applied by the amazing 'Look Fabulous by Sinead' who I work with regularly. I utilised the many rooms and locations in and around the house for photo's of the dress and other detail.

Josh was getting ready with his brothers on the other side of the house. I took the opportunity to capture the gents group photo's before they departed for the registry office. Meanwhile, Shannon was in her dress, ready for a dress reveal to her Dad.

Shannon arrived at the Council Offices, Caernarfon with her Dad in this beautiful vintage VW campervan. The ceremony was to took place in the unique Dafydd Orwig's Chamber. Fortunately the microphones were all switched off - it could have been chaos :-)

We all headed back to a wet Bryn Derwen Country House. The clouds had rolled in so Shannon, Josh and I used the tree canopy as shelter with the VW strategically positioned out of focus in the backdrop. We also took advantage of the beautiful autumn leaves - all while guests settled in at the house - the drinks reception was under way.

I love this part of the world and spend a lot of time up in the Eryri mountains so being able to capture them as a backdrop for a bride and groom was great! Plenty more of this going forward please :-)

With group photo's done and dusted and with wedding breakfast due to being served, I took a break myself. I'll always take the wedding rings and wedding bouquet first, and arrange them for some close up photographs, then wait to be called for speeches.

During the evening reception and after the sun had set, we made time for an after dark couples shoot using a little off camera flash. Shannon & Josh had also arranged sparklers and fireworks - a perfect finale to an amazing celebration. My last moments were capturing the traditions of the Cutting the cake (in this case, cheese) and the first dance. Thanks for my box of cheese which I enjoyed when I got home to back up the photo's :-)

I’d like to wish Shannon & Josh a lifetime of happiness. Congratulations to you both and thanks so much for booking Nathan Roberts Photography to capture your special day. I had a lovely day celebrating and capturing your day with wonderful family and friends.
