Craxton Wood Hotel - Lois & Gethyn
Lois and Gethyn’s wedding in August at Craxton Wood Hotel was one to remember. Nestled in the Cheshire countryside, this venue is a perfect mix of classic charm and natural beauty, with its woodlands providing a stunning backdrop for the day. The weather couldn’t have been better—clear skies, warm sunlight, and perfect conditions for photography.
Morning Prep – The Calm Before the Storm
The day kicked off with Lois and her bridal party getting ready in the hotel. The atmosphere was a mix of nerves and excitement, as Lois had her makeup done by Lois Williams and her hair styled by Carol Thompson. The details were all coming together—dress, jewelry, perfume—and Lois & Gethyn's children were also getting ready for their big roles in the day.
A particularly emotional moment was the dress reveal to the bridesmaids, followed by Lois’s dad’s reaction—one of those genuine, unscripted moments that makes wedding photography so special.
Meanwhile, at the other side of the hotel, Gethyn and the lads were suiting up in Slaters suits, sorting buttonholes, and sharing a few laughs before heading to the ceremony.
The Outdoor Ceremony
Lois and Gethyn opted for an outdoor ceremony, and with the weather playing along, it was a perfect setting. The moment Lois walked down the aisle, all eyes were on her, and Gethyn’s reaction said it all. The vows were heartfelt, the ring exchange was flawless, and after sealing it with a kiss, the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle as their guests cheered.
Group Shots & Ice Cream!
We then moved on to the main group shot with all the guests before diving into some family and bridal party photos.
A highlight of the drinks reception? The Ice Cream Van from Ice Cream Dream. A huge hit with guests of all ages, and definitely something that added a fun, relaxed feel to the afternoon.
While guests mingled, we sneaked off for a couples shoot around the venue. With about 15-20 minutes to play with, we made the most of Craxton Wood’s surroundings, capturing both candid and more composed shots.
The Reception & Speeches
The wedding breakfast setup looked incredible, thanks to the work of Enhance Events Weddings. As guests settled in, the speeches got underway—plenty of heartfelt moments, embarrassing stories, and just the right amount of roasting for Gethyn!
Evening Fun & Sunset Shoot
With some free time before the evening kicked off, we wrapped up the remaining group shots..
Then came one of my favorite parts of the day—the evening couples shoot. We explored the brick wall by the pagoda, the pagoda itself (with some off-camera flash), and even the nearby bridges for some moody, low-light shots. These moments always give couples a bit of breathing space before the evening party, and the results were definitely worth it.
Party Time!
The evening do started with the cake cutting, featuring an amazing creation by Mel's Amazing Cakes, followed by Lois & Gethyn’s first dance. From there, the dance floor was officially open, with Mike James from Events Services Direct keeping the energy high all night.
