Quay Hotel - Ffion & Matty

It's always a pleasure working alongside the team at the Quay Hotel in Deganwy. I've fond memories of my first wedding there, where I was guest and Best Man at my brothers wedding in 2009. Nearly 13 years to the day and I'm back at the Quay. This time, to photograph the wedding of Ffion & Matty.

It really is a great venue in an amazing location on the estuary next to Conwy and near to Llandudno. The morning began capturing the room which was set ready for the ceremony, before spending the next 3 hours photographing Ffion and her Bridal Party preparing for the day ahead. There was the odd distraction when Matty and the Groomsmen arrived with their many guests.

The ceremony took place in the larger of the two rooms available. Matty waited anxiously for his bride.

Ffion & Matty requested that we head to Conwy Castle for a photo shoot. It's quite a popular request - there, or the nearby beach at Deganwy or even the Great Orme at Llandudno. We jumped into the back of my Campervan for the short trip and were treated to perfect light and conditions at the iconic castle.

Back at the Quay, we made time for group photo's as well as the details - such as the flowers and decor. I always aim to make the last shot, the big group shot from the top of the stairs looking down at reception. All before food and speeches.

With free time after the wedding breakfast, I was able to use the time, before the evening reception, to complete group shots and utilise alternate locations in low light for another couples shoot with just Ffion & Matty.

The evening reception commenced!!! Cutting the cake, First Dance and plenty of random shapes on the dance floor.
