Quay Hotel - Jess & James
Back to the Quay Hotel in Deganwy. This was the first of two in a week and I had the honour of capturing Jess & James's special day.... and what a day it was.
The morning began with Jess and her Bridal Party who were extremely relaxed having their hair and make up done by the amazing Kelly Marie Roberts (Hair) and Keena Roberts (Make up). When I wasn't with the girls, I was wandering the grounds of the Quay capturing the detail at the venue, and were treated to some stunning views of Conwy Castle lit up by the sun.
James and the Groomsmen arrived an hour or so before the ceremony for a quick drink to calm the nerves, so I collared them for a couple of photographs, to save time later during the drinks reception.
This last hour (before the ceremony) is usually chaotic, as guests arrive; all of the final bridal prep is completed before the bride gets into her dress, before a dress reveal; registrars go through their final checks with the bride and groom... but today the chaos was controlled, as Jess was ready way in advance of the ceremony, so we stopped for some photo's, before their beautiful ceremony.
Now husband and wife, the pressure was off, and Jess & James were able to enjoy a drink and welcome guests at the drinks reception. The plan was to stay in the immediate vicinity of the Quay, for couples photo's, instead of disappearing to the nearby castle or beach (which is a common request). We opted to chance photo's at the nearby marina, next to the car park and were in for a treat...
A lovely couple who were enjoying some wine in the sun on their boat, invited us down to take advantage of their boat, for photographs. How kind of them - such a lovely gesture!
Meanwhile back at the Quay, the room was ready for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The detail was perfect, and after the speeches we were in for another surprise.....
.. Singing Waiters. This was great entertainment. Not only did the wedding party get involved, but so too did Jane and the staff at the Quay Hotel :-)
What a great way to celebrate. This was closely followed by the traditional photo opportunities of 'cutting the cake' and the 'first dance'. Soon after, the sun was due to set, so Jess, James and I took a trip to the nearby beach at Deganwy for photographs capturing the last light.
I’d like to wish Jess & James a lifetime of happiness. Congratulations to you both and thanks so much for booking Nathan Roberts Photography to capture your special day. I had a lovely day celebrating and capturing your day with wonderful family and friends.
