Trefnant Marquee - Rachel & Grant
Living in St Asaph, today's locations were extremely convenient for me. The day was to begin and end in nearby Trefnant, with a detour to the Marble Church in Bodelwydden in between. Rachel & Grant opted to celebrate with their guests on family land in a beautiful marquee, courtesy of Peak Marquee Hire.
I began the day at Rachel's family home with her parents and bridal party. You know it's going to be a good day, when you're greeted with 'Bacon butties' and Champagne. I reluctantly declined the Champers, seen as I'm so professional. I instead utilised this pre-wedding time for candid shots of everyone enjoying themselves as well as some detail shots of the dress. We opted to photograph the dress with "LEO", the Vintage Bar, which Rachel hires out for Weddings and Events. It has so much character. I would definitely recommend!
After an intimate dress reveal, I departed for the iconic Marble Church in Bodelwydden, to meet Grant and the gents. Guests arrived, looking absolutely incredible - most gents were dressed in dinner suits whilst the ladies donned hats or fascinators (to a different level) to compliment their dresses - everyone looked so smart and vibrant. Rachel arrived with her Dad soon after, In LEO. The ceremony could now commence.
It was nice to take advantage of the stunning interiors of the 'Marble Church', by photographing a group shot of everyone. This was agreed pre-wedding and was announced during the service, so that everyone knew to turn. As soon as we exited the church, I set up guests for a confetti corridor, before everyone departed for Trefnant (to the marquee). Rachel & Grant and I, hung around a little longer.
To be fair, Grant, a Professional Landscaper and Gardener and Rachel's Dad spent so much time perfectly manicuring the grounds in preparation for the big day. They were definitely rewarded for their hard work, with stunning weather conditions, which really showed off everything they had done. I was kept busy during the drinks reception, capturing as much as I could before Wedding Breakfast and speeches.
I was already loving everything about this wedding, but to discover that food was being served up by Rowen, Imogen and the team at The Sorbus Tree & Small Plates, was an absolute treat. I do love a marquee wedding - the white canvas acts as one enormous light diffusor, so all of the photo's are crisp and vibrant.
Post speeches, we spent the evening completing group photo's - I love that so many made the effort to wear Rachels favourite colour pink. We also risked Rachel's life, by launching her into the air, before disappearing on a quad to a nearby, uncut field for a beautiful low-light couples shoot.
With the sky dimming down, the festoon lighting was more visible, the dance-floor was set up, and the band were in place. It was time dance into the night, starting with Rachel & Grant.
Once the sun had set and long gone, we were treated to an incredible firework display. I love the results!!!
I'd love to relive that wedding all over again. This was one of the most enjoyable weddings of the year. I’d like to wish Rachel & Grant a lifetime of happiness. Congratulations to you both and thanks so much for booking Nathan Roberts Photography to capture your special day. I had a lovely day celebrating and capturing your day with wonderful family and friends.
